Our Benefits
Depression, dementia and anxiety is the most common issues among seniors. About 5% to 7% of the population over 60 are suffering from this mental health problem. As people age, they are more likely to experience chronic pain, reduced mobility, and other health problems. They also experience loneliness, depression, anxiety, frustrations, resentment, dementia and even premature death.
Studies have shown that meaningful and enjoyable activities are important for older adults in cultivating positive outlook in their lives that leads to life longevity, sense of purpose, contentment and happiness. There are proven effective ways to mental and emotional support like engagement in various shared activities.
Sensory experiences like brushing hair, using essential oils, baking, flower arrangement, visiting a fish shop or tactile activities like filling objects with kinetic sand or running fingers through different textures.
Another activity to help the elderly is to keep them active through simple physical activity, it can release chemicals in the brain that make people feel good. These includes chair exercises, throwing and passing a ball or stretching.
Studies suggest that brain activities can help improve cognitive abilities in older adults and people who do mentally stimulating activities like word and jigsaw puzzles, matching and tabletop games. Brain exercises may lower the risk of cognitive decline and dementia.
Social engagement provides a greater sense of purpose among elders. Participating in art activities like drawing, painting, sharing stories from the past with photos or group book reading might help to improved emotional health, cognitive function, physical health and help combat the feeling of isolation.
Music activities like singing, dancing, playing musical instruments or karaoke times have many benefits like reducing anxiety or depression, helps support language and speech, improves moods, enriching our brain health and enhances quality of life.
